Love

"When our desire for God dominates our hearts, our minds will stay focused on ways to serve Him, and our actions will further His Kingdom on earth and in heaven." --Our Daily Bread

In John 13:34 Jesus said, "A new command I give you:  Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another."  In the next chapter Jesus says, "If you love me, keep my commands."

There are several theories on the origins of today's holiday--Valentine's Day.  Whether it was to commemorate the death of Saint Valentine or the church's attempt to Christianize the pagan celebration of Lupercalia (a fertility festival) is unknown.  Today has become a reminder to all guys that they need to be a bit more romantic than they usually may or may not be already.  But it is also a painful reminder to anyone who doesn't have a partner to share the day with.  The Good News is that God loves you!  He wants to be your Valentine.  Will you give Him your heart today and accept His?

Father, in loving You, Your Love is engendered in my heart.  This is the best kind of love I can give to others.
