Do you ever feel like a phony? Like you're acting in someone else's play--not your own life? It seems to be the part and parcel of polite society, political races, dating relationships, and even within churches. I'm sure all of us feel that way at one time or another--maybe even all the time! We play roles in our business relationships, social situations, even within our families sometimes. It's all part of wanting to be accepted--to fit in, keep our jobs, our marriage, our friendship.
But this isn't how God wants us to be with Him. Alan Cohen says, "There is always a path available in alignment with your integrity, if you are willing to seek and live it."
In 1 John 3:18-20 we are told, "Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things." Integrity is important to God.
God has provided the way for us to live with integrity......but we must come to Him just as we really are--baring our souls as honestly as we can. He will forgive us, remove the guilt, and give us His Holy Spirit. Then we are to worship Him in spirit and in truth because then He will finish the work He has begun in us, helping us to become more, and more honest about our need for Him.
Father, help me to always be honest with You so you can heal those parts that need healing, strengthen the areas that are weak, and make me into Your image.
