New Creation

"If we are going to be ready for Jesus Christ, we have to stop being religious
(that is, using religion as a higher kind of culture) and be spiritually real."
-Oswald Chambers

Believing in Jesus Christ and receiving his Holy Spirit is all about a relationship between you and God.  It is not a religion as religion is defined by our culture.  To be religious merely means we follow a prescribed set of rules defined by the organization.  Over the centuries in attempts to reform the first organized Christian church many denominations have sprung up, each claiming to have the Truth, interpreting scripture according to their beliefs.

I recently discovered Andrew Farley's teachings on the Internet.  He is the author of a book entitled "God Without Religion."   He is the pastor of a church in Texas and heads an organization called Andrew Farley Ministries which promotes his several books and archives his call-in radio programs.  There is a search feature on AFM's web page that will allow you to find any topic you are interested in.

Pastor Farley's gift is his ability to dig deeper into scripture (he is a professor of linguistics) and connect the dots in a way that many preacher/teachers are unable to do.  There is much I could say about what he has to say, but I urge you to listen to him for yourself.  The first link above will take you to an interview on one of his books and the second one will take you to his website where you can listen to his call-in radio program.

Below he talks about our new identity in Christ which is a good starting point to come to understand why we don't need religion in order to stay the course.  We are new creatures in Christ with a new identity, dead to sin and spiritual death.  I guarantee that after listening to his sermons and call-in radio programs you will change the way you feel about yourself and how you pray.

Father, thank you for leading me to Andrew Farley's teaching so that I will be better equipped to express Christ in me to those who need You.
