Jesus as a Friend

Best Friends

Last month I shared from Diana Butler Bass's book, "Freeing Jesus - Rediscovering Jesus as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence".  You can read that HERE if you missed it.  This month I'll share what she has to say about Jesus as a friend, as well as my own experiences.  

The Benefits of Receiving God's Gift

I was listening to Andrew Farley's video entitled "What are the benefits of Jesus right now?"  and began thinking about my life in Christ.  

Light of the World

Perfectionism

"...by a single offering [Jesus] has made perfect for all time those who are being made holy."  --Hebrews 10:14

I've been reading a book about the Perfectionist personality. A Perfectionist is someone who "refuses to except any standard short of perfection."  When I'm in an airplane I want the pilot to be a perfectionist.  If I need an operation, I want my doctor to be a perfectionist.

Changing Views

 "....Let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God..." - Exodus 3:18

This was the view out my hospital room, the second morning I'd been there.  The first night into the morning hours was spent in a windowless emergency room.  This was definitely an improvement, and oddly enough, I felt as though I was on a vacation!  We've hardly gone anywhere since the Pandemic started and not at all anywhere overnight since last October.  Having a new view out my window when I woke up that morning was a welcomed change, though I would have much preferred watching the sun rise over some lovely ocean view.
